On April 28, the 31st edition of the Excelsiors Gala, organized by the Grand Joliette Chamber of Commerce (CCGJ) (french only), took place. During the event, more than 40 organizations and finalists competed against each other in the hope of leaving with an Excelsiors prize.
EBI was awarded an Excelsiors prize in the Industrial and Manufacturing category, applauded by the business and professional community gathered at the Saint-Jean-Bosco Centre.
The prize is “awarded to an industrial, manufactured goods or natural resource processing company distinguished for the quality of its production, planning, investments, management of human resources or any other element deemed distinctive” (CCGJ, 2017).
This recognition is well deserved because it highlights the effort and work undertaken during the modernization of the company’s sorting centre for recyclable materials located in Joliette. Last fall, EBI invested more than $3 million to modernize its sorting centre. The investments allowed for the acquisition of cutting-edge technologies; specifically, three optical separators, which sort materials according to their composition and density, a ballistic separator designed to separate fibres from containers, and an eddy current separator for sorting aluminium containers. The EBI sorting centre is now the most sophisticated and most efficient in Québec.
This award is in addition to the Jacques Gaudreau and Cœur vert awards recently awarded by Réseau Environnement. These awards also recognized the modernization of the Joliette sorting centre. EBI has been increasingly recognized over the past few years. All members of EBI management would like to congratulate their employees for their dedication and involvements in making this project a success.
